20130713_IMG_1636Dr. Edith Buie was born and raised in Toronto.  She graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000, and obtained her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the University of Waterloo in 2004.  During her Optometry training, Dr. Buie participated in several eye missions in Mexico.  In her free time, Dr. Buie enjoys playing volleyball, baking, and photography.

20130713_IMG_1620Dr. Rita Chee graduated from the University of Waterloo with both an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in 1991 and then a Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1995.  She completed her Ocular Disease Internship in Harleysville, Pennsylvania, where she worked with a retinal specialist and developed a clinical interest in retinal findings.  She has participated in the Lions Club Gift of Sight Program which provides free eye exams and glasses to disadvantaged children.  In August 2012, Dr. Chee volunteered in an optometric mission trip to Kenya, the first of hopefully many humanitarian ventures to come.

20130713_IMG_1609Dr. Nancy Chung graduated from the optometry program at the University of Waterloo in 1989.  She has worked in many practices including downtown Toronto, Burlington, Oshawa and has been at York Mills Eye Clinic since 1997.  She enjoys participating in and running free eye clinics, and has been to the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Kenya and Honduras for volunteer missions.  She has also volunteered with the Lions Club Gift of Sight vision van for a number of years to provide free exams and glasses to children in need, as well as provided vision tests for athletes participating in the Special Olympics. Dr.Chung shares her clinical skills and knowledge by mentoring student interns from optometry schools in Pennsylvania and Waterloo.  She is married with three children, and her hobbies include cooking, reading and running.

20130713_IMG_1624Dr. Clara Tsui grew up in the Scarborough and North York areas of Toronto. She completed her undergraduate studies and Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo, graduating with Excellent Academic Standing and Dean’s List Honours. During her studies, she completed an Ocular Disease internship in Bethesda, Maryland, and participated in an eye care mission trip to China. Dr. Tsui speaks Cantonese and English, and enjoys working with patients of all ages. She enjoys playing hockey and volleyball, and baking.

Dr. Amanda Sim (Tam) graduated from University of Waterloo School of Optometry with Honours. She currently practices full scope optometry with a strong interest in chronic headache and concussion management. In addition to her practice, she also works at Vaughan Family Vision Therapy.

While at the University of Waterloo, Dr. Sim was awarded the des Grosseillers Humanitarian Award, the highest honor given to a University of Waterloo optometry student who exemplifies commitment to community and helping others.  She completed a clinical rotation at Houston Eye Associates, one of the largest ophthalmology clinics in the United States, where she obtained extensive training with specialists in the areas of LASIK, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and glaucoma. In addition, she has had the opportunity to join her mother, Dr. Nancy Chung, on a mission trip to Kenya and four mission trips to Honduras to provide charitable eye care.
